Conventional ion exchange demineralisation is used mainly in industrial water treatment for boiler feed water conditioning. In the case of low to medium pressure boilers, softening ion exchange is employed, but in the case of high pressure boilers, where ultra pure water is required, full ion exchange comprising cation / anion / mixed bed plants is used. Ametis has supplied demineralisation plants for both applications, for the pulp and paper industry as well as for the automotive industry. Ion exchange equipment has also been supplied for the sugar / starch industry where decolourisation and demineralisation of sugars and syrup are required.
